A mechanism to cope with monks who participate in anti-religious activity- Minister

Minister Vidura Wickramanayake says that they are working to build a mechanism to act against monks who engage in anti-religious activities.

Here, Mahanayake Theros is going to take steps to inform the monks who are engaged in undisciplined activities.

Apart from that, a ministerial sub-committee has been established to discuss the issue of sewing children at an early age.

A new work arrangement by the ministry’s intervention to inform the leaders regarding the monks engaged in anti-religious activities – Minister Vidura Wickramanayake…


Minister Vidura Wickramanayake recently said that in the implementation of the law in the case of allegations related to monks, it is proposed to prepare a system to inform the leaders of the respective monks through the police in coordination with the ministry and accordingly to take disciplinary action in addition to the general law. The minister also said that it is expected to introduce a new act with powers to establish a separate structure to deal with this issue in the future under the guidance of the leaders.

The Minister said this at the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs held in Parliament recently.
