The government had received a second legal opinion on the same matter by last week, according to the State Secrets column.
The legal opinion states that while the Constitution specifies the term of office of Supreme Court judges, it contains no specific provision regarding the term of office of the Chief Justice.
According to the legal advice, although the retirement age should be specified in relation to Supreme Court judges, there is no requirement to make a similar provision for the Chief Justice. The State Secrets column further states that the government is currently considering this legal opinion as well.
