People’s Bank organised a series of meritorious activities in Anuradhapura to commemorate Poson Poya.

As part of the programme, for the 43rd consecutive year, People’s Bank offered Heel Dāna (morning alms) to over 25,000 devotees observing Sil at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises. In addition, for the 20th consecutive year, the Bank conducted the revered ‘Poson Bodhu Gee Saraniya’ at the Ruwanweli Maha Seya.

The programme was organised in keeping with People’s Bank’s longstanding tradition of supporting national and religious observances while fostering the aesthetic talents of its staff members. Veteran musician Karunarathna Wijewardhana directed the musical performance. The initiative was spearheaded by the Bank’s Anuradhapura Regional Head Office. In addition, the Nuwarawewa Branch organised an ice cream Dansala for the public.

The programme was held under the patronage of the Acting Atamasthanadhipathi, Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya, and Chancellor of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, the Venerable Ethalawatunuwewe Gnanatilake Nayaka Thero.

The event was attended by People’s Bank Chairman Prof. Narada Fernando, Chief Executive Officer/General Manager Clive Fonseka, Head of Marketing Nalaka Wijayawardana, Deputy General Manager (Channel Management) Aruni Liyanagunawardana, Deputy General Manager (Banking Support Services) Indumini Rathnayake, Anuradhapura Regional Manager Tissa Tennakoon, Assistant Regional Managers, government officials, and a large number of People’s Bank staff members.
