Pimp My Tuk Tuk 2025 Concludes Landmark 1,350km Charity Ride Across Sri Lanka

Pimp My Tuk Tuk Asia (PMTT Asia) has successfully completed its third Sri Lanka Challenge, a seven-day, 1,350-kilometre charity rally that brought together a global community of riders, sponsors, and changemakers. Held from September 20 to 26, the 2025 edition saw 42 participants from 11 countries journeying across Sri Lanka in custom-branded tuk tuks, raising funds for long-term community development initiatives delivered in partnership with the Foundation of Goodness.

This year’s rally marked a powerful return for the PMTT initiative, last held in Sri Lanka in 2017. The 2025 ride, themed “Touching Lives, Making a Real Difference,” combined personal adventure with collective impact, and stood out as the most ambitious to date in terms of reach, visibility, and community engagement.

Driving Change, One Village at a Time

The route began in Negombo, travelling through Kurunegala, Dambulla, Anuradhapura, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Bandarawela, Yala, Matara, and Galle, before concluding in Colombo. At each major stop, participants engaged in charitable outreach coordinated by the Foundation of Goodness, with the following project areas supported:

  • Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Plants, providing clean drinking water to over 1,500 families
  • School packs distributed to underserved children in rural areas
  • Women’s empowerment programs through village-based learning centres
  • Medical support and adaptive care for special needs communities, including ongoing funding for Meth Sewa
  • Distribution of bicycles and tools to enhance access to education and healthcare

All riders fully funded their own participation, including travel, accommodation, and meals, allowing 100% of sponsor contributions to be directed toward project implementation.

Celebration at Hatch Colombo

The final day of the rally concluded with a press conference and networking event at Hatch Colombo, Sri Lanka’s leading innovation hub, which served as both venue partner and co-host. The event brought together riders, sponsors, media, and members of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, highlighting the convergence of global philanthropy and local community building.

“We’re honoured to have hosted the finale of this year’s Pimp My Tuk Tuk rally,” said  Jeevan Gnanam, Co-Founder of Hatch. “At our core, Hatch is about building communities that create lasting change. PMTT represents the same spirit, a grassroots movement using creativity, commitment, and collaboration to transform lives. We’re proud to have been part of a journey that combines impact with purpose, and celebrates what’s possible when people come together.”

Speakers included representatives from the Foundation of Goodness, Microsoft and Yahava KoffeeWorks, and PMTT’s founding team. The press event was followed by media engagements and an informal networking session with the local community.

A closing brunch was held on September 27 at The Kingsbury Hotel, celebrating the success of the initiative and acknowledging the collective effort behind it.

A Movement with Momentum

Founded in 2013, Pimp My Tuk Tuk has evolved from a charitable road trip among friends into a global movement for good. Previous rides in India (2013) and Sri Lanka (2015, 2017) raised over USD $850,000 in total. With the 2025 edition, the impact continues to grow, both in the scale of community engagement and the legacy it leaves behind.

This year’s event also carried emotional significance, honouring the memory of two long-time participants who passed away in recent years. Their legacy was remembered throughout the journey and in the spirit of the ride.

Project implementation is now underway, with regular updates to be shared by the Foundation of Goodness with each sponsor and donor.

Continuing the Journey

With vibrant tuk tuks designed by artist Martin Tacchi, the participation of riders across age groups and professions, and the unwavering support of corporate sponsors including Microsoft, Yahava Koffee, Xylem Water Systems, Mobility in Motion, Reuzeit, Hatch, Destiny Energy, Whisky Cask Club, Djital Team, Rotary Club of Patong Beach, Triple T, Unique, Equinix, Reloc8 Property, Bowers Law, Simpson Spence Young, Freight Links, Singapore Sri Lanka Business Association,  and others, the 2025 ride demonstrated how adventure and purpose can meaningfully coexist.

Pimp My Tuk Tuk Asia continues to welcome individuals and partners who wish to support future editions, contribute to community projects, or share the story of impact.
