Overseas School of Colombo Strikes Gold Again at the International ARC Awards in New York

The Overseas School of Colombo (OSC) has once again achieved international success, claiming Gold at the prestigious International ARC Awards in New York for its 2023/24 Annual Report, “Timeless Dedication: Celebrating the Faces Behind Our Progress.”

While the award is a stupendous milestone, OSC sees it as far more than a token of acknowledgement. OSC’s legacy is forged through unwavering vision and passionate resolve, its heritage shaped by the love, devotion, and determination of countless individuals whose tireless efforts have carried the school’s triumphant footsteps forward.

“Timeless Dedication” stands as a tribute to the true heart of the school – the teachers, staff, students, and community whose passion and commitment shape OSC’s enduring journey and legacy every day. Furthermore, it is truly an extraordinary feat to be recognised alongside some of the world’s most popular and cherished brands.

Hailed as the “Oscars of Annual Reports,” the ARC Awards are now in its 39th year, recognising the highest standards in corporate communication and transparency since 1987. Winners include global icons such as PepsiCo, McDonald’s, IBM, Walmart, Coca-Cola, Nike, Boeing, PETRONAS, Harley-Davidson, BMW, and Volkswagen.

“This triumph is not just about an award, but a reflection of OSC’s philosophy – that we are a community rooted in trust and openness, where every individual is part of the story, striving for excellence in all we do,” said Nel Capadona, OSC’s Head of School. Her words capture the very essence of the school’s ethos, wholeheartedly embodied by every member of the community.

This achievement marks back-to-back Gold victories for OSC (2024 and 2025), following a Silver in 2022. The school remains the only IB World School worldwide – and the only Sri Lankan educational institution ever – to triumph at the ARCs, firmly cementing its place on the global stage.

Jehan de Silva, OSC’s Director of Marketing and Communications, also ruminates:“As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child – and at OSC, it is about celebrating the extraordinary people who bring professionalism, creativity, and heart to our community. The theme of last year’s report was about valuing everyone; academic, administrative, service, and beyond. This victory is not about the trophy alone, but about honouring the true faces behind OSC’s remarkable journey.”

OSC’s consistent success at the ARC Awards not only reflects its unwavering dedication to excellence, but also its rare ability to tell its story with authenticity, creativity, and impact.

OSC’s victory is therefore so much more than a celebration – it affirms a legacy built on transparency and trust in reporting, excellence and leadership that extends beyond education, and global recognition that places the Gecko spirit proudly alongside the world’s finest.
