People’s Bank officially launched its Mini POS merchant payment solution, aimed at strengthening financial inclusion and supporting the national digital economy plan.

The official launch event was recently held through the collaborative efforts of the People’s Card Centre and the Liberty Plaza Branch. At the event, the first five Mini POS devices were presented to valued business customers of the Bank.

This cost-effective and accessible Mini POS solution has been specifically designed to integrate SME and micro-merchant sectors into the digital card acceptance platform. With low operating thresholds and affordable service structures, the initiative empowers SMEs and emerging merchants to accept card payments seamlessly.

The Mini POS solution offers the lowest merchant discount rate in the market, together with free installation and comprehensive training provided by the Bank. Promoting a paperless environment, it features e-signatures and digital receipts. Merchant funds are credited to the designated account on the very next day (including holidays), with operations functioning 365 days a year to ensure uninterrupted support for merchant requirements.

Customers can apply for the Mini POS solution by visiting any People’s Bank branch or the Card Centre.

People’s Bank Deputy General Manager (Payments & Cards) Nilmini Premalal, Head of Cards Jayanath Dias, Chief Manager (Card Centre) Vinodika Piries, Colombo South Regional Manager Harindani Abayawickrama, Liberty Plaza Branch Manager Nilukshi Ramanayake, along with Bank officials and customers, participated in the event.
