Join the Upcoming Awareness Session on FTAs and Export Potential

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, Sri Lanka is pleased to announce an informative session on “Market Access Opportunities under the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) of Sri Lanka”, scheduled to be held on Friday, 23 May 2025, from 9.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon at the National Chamber Auditorium at No. 450, D. R Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10.

As Sri Lanka looks to strengthen its export base and global trade footprint, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) have emerged as vital tools for businesses to gain preferential access to key international markets. This session aims to educate and empower exporters, SMEs, entrepreneurs, and trade professionals on how to make the most of the FTAs Sri Lanka currently holds with countries such as India, Pakistan, Singapore, and member countries of SAFTA and APTA.

Key highlights of the session will include: Overview of Sri Lanka’s existing FTAs and ongoing negotiations; Tariff concessions and non-tariff barrier eliminations; How to qualify for preferential access: Rules of Origin and documentation; Case studies on successful market entries via FTAs; Sector-specific opportunities for export growth; Q&A session with experienced trade policy experts

Why you should attend: To gain insights on how to expand your product reach to large, untapped markets; Understand compliance, certification, and trade facilitation procedures; Network with trade officials, fellow exporters, and business leaders.

The Resource Personnels: The session will be conducted by Mr. Sanjeewa Pattiwila – Head of the Rules of Origin Division of the Department of Commerce Sri Lanka and specialists in international trade policy and FTA utilization. The session will be moderated by the National Chamber.
