The Parliamentary House Committee, which convened today (23), has decided to revise the fees charged to Members of Parliament (MPs) for meals at the Parliament Dining Hall. The increase amounts to Rs. 1,550 across various meal categories.
Deputy Minister Gamagedara Dissanayake, a member of the committee, announced that the revised prices will take effect starting next week.
Under the new pricing structure, the fee for breakfast, previously set at Rs. 100, will be raised to Rs. 600. The cost of lunch, which was Rs. 300, will now be increased to Rs. 1,200. Additionally, the charge for tea will rise from Rs. 50 to Rs. 200.
Deputy Minister Dissanayake clarified that the decision to increase prices does not apply to executive-grade officers, who will continue to pay the existing fees.
