The court has ordered the acquittal of Specialist Dr. Safi Shabdeen on all charges.
Dr. Shabdeen had been accused of inciting approximately 1,000 mothers during the 2019 general election. However, the Attorney General has directed that the case be dismissed due to a lack of sufficient evidence.
On May 25, 2019, a special police team, operating under the then Deputy Inspector General of Police in Kurunegala, arrested Dr. Shabdeen in connection with the allegations.
