Mr. Dilith Jayaweera has called for the retirement of former opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, describing him as an “expired product” in the political arena. Jayaweera made this statement during a press conference, where he expressed his party’s intention to assume leadership of the opposition in the current political landscape.
Despite this, in the last presidential election, Mr. Premadasa garnered 4,363,035 votes, significantly outpacing Mr. Jayaweera, who received 122,396 votes.
Mr. Jayaweera is now contesting in the upcoming general election from the Gampaha district.
