Former Transport, Highways, and Media Cabinet Minister, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena, announced today (4th) that he will not contest the upcoming parliamentary general election.
Having served the Homagama Constituency for over two decades, Dr. Gunawardena highlighted his commitment to the people during his tenure as a Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister, and Cabinet Minister. He expressed pride in the work he had accomplished for his constituency, which had long lacked proper representation in Parliament.
Reflecting on his efforts, Dr. Gunawardena stated that he worked tirelessly to transform Homagama into a center of knowledge, referred to as the “Pragna Bandu City.” He expressed satisfaction with the progress made in uplifting the community.
Looking ahead, Dr. Gunawardena shared his future plans, revealing that he intends to pursue another doctorate and venture into filmmaking in the coming years.
