The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) proudly recognized the achievements of students from batches seven and eight of the Advanced Diploma in Financial Markets (ADFM) at a ceremonial event held on 30th September 2024 at the Courtyard by Marriott, Grand Sapphire Hall. This event marks another significant milestone in CSE’s ongoing commitment to enhancing financial literacy and education within the capital market, as it is the first educational qualification to be awarded by the Stock Exchange.

The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, CSE Chairman Mr. Dilshan Wirasekara, the Vice-Chancellor of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka – Professor Sanjeewani Ginigaddara, CSE CEO Mr. Rajeeva Bandaranaike, CSE senior management, esteemed lecturers, students, and their proud families, all gathered to celebrate the graduation of the 52 students from these batches.

The ADFM program was established to address the growing need for an accessible entry-level academic qualification awarded by CSE, equipping individuals with essential knowledge of financial markets, particularly in capital market operations and investment strategies. The course consists of ten comprehensive modules completed over a nine-month period, covering essential topics such as capital market regulations, investment analysis, portfolio management, macroeconomics, and other relevant subject matters.

The course content featured a blend of theoretical and practical aspects of financial markets, including model portfolio management by students, which integrated real-world expertise with hands-on skills. The modules were delivered by an esteemed panel of lecturers, comprising respected local university faculty and capital market experts.

During the ceremony, CSE CEO Mr. Rajeeva Bandaranaike congratulated the ADFM graduates, stating, “Your hard work and dedication have brought you here today, marking a significant milestone in your journey. As you embark on your professional paths, I encourage you to use the knowledge gained to inspire others and promote financial literacy in our communities.”

As the Chief Guest, Mr. Dilshan Wirasekara remarked, “In today’s rapidly evolving financial landscape, the demand for skilled professionals has never been greater. Alongside the ADFM program, the CSE has partnered with universities and educational institutions nationwide to bridge this gap, contribute to the enhancement of financial literacy, and ensure our youth are well-prepared to make meaningful contributions to the financial industry.”

Commending the awardees on the significance of their achievements, keynote speaker professor Sanjeewani Ginigaddara delivered an insightful speech that resonated with the students, offering valuable perspectives for their futures.

The ADFM program is officially recognized by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA).
