A Fundamental Rights petition was submitted to the Supreme Court today, challenging the alleged illegal issuance of a casino license by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe during the presidential election period, which reportedly resulted in significant financial losses to the government.
The petition, filed by Ven. Malgalle Sujatha Thero, was heard by the Supreme Court and scheduled for further proceedings on October 14.
According to the petitioner, the casino license was granted for a sum of 500 million rupees, while the estimated financial loss to the government stands at 85 billion rupees.
