People’s Bank organized a series of meritorious deeds in Anuradhapura to mark Poson Poya.
As a part of this programme, for the 41st time in its history, People’s Bank offered alms (Heel Daana) to over 30,000 devotees who observed Sil at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises.Additionally, for the 18th time, People’s Bank conducted a glorious performance of the ‘Poson Bodhu Gee Saraniya’ at the Ruwanweli Maha Seya.
This programme of meritorious deeds was organised in line with the People’s Bank’s tradition of supporting national and religious activities of the country and also to highlight and nurture the aesthetic skills of the Bank’s staff members. The music was directed by the leading veteran musician Karunarathna Wijewardhana. One of the key highlights was that the Bodhu Gee were sung by People’s Bank staff together with students of the Niwaththakachethiya Maha Vidyalaya. People’s Bank Anuradhapura Regional Office organised the entire programme.
The programme was held under the patronage of Atamasthanadhipathi and The Chief Sanghanayake of the Nuwara Kalaviya Most Venerable Dr. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thero, and Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya Temple and Rajarata University of Sri Lanka Vice Chancellor Ven. Ethalawatunawewe Gnanatilake Nayaka Thero. The event was graced by People’s Bank Chairman Sujeewa Rajapakse, Chief Executive Officer/General Manager Clive Fonseka, Anuradhapura District Secretary Janaka Jayasundara, Deputy General Manager (Banking Support Services) Nipunika Wijayaratne, Head of Marketing Nalaka Wijayawardana, Deputy General Manager (Channel Management) Naleen Pathiranage, Anuradhapura Regional Manager Asitha Danawalawithana, Assistant Regional Managers, Government officials, as well as a large number of the bank’s staff members participated in the programme.
