Serendib Flour Mills (SFML), driven with the purpose of nourishing the nation is recognizing academic excellence and supporting higher education through its ‘Serendib Adhi Shakthi University Scholarship Program’. Ten exceptional students among the Sri Lankan estate community who achieved the highest z-scores were recently awarded the scholarships.

In making a meaningful difference in the lives of estate communities, Serendib Flour Mills has previously introduced ‘Adhi Shakti Fortified Wheat Flour’, a micronutrient-fortified wheat flour tailored for the nutritional needs of estate communities.

As the foremost flour mills in Sri Lanka, Serendib Flour Mills worked in collaboration with the Plantation Human Development Trust (PHDT) to identify and honour these talented students who gained entry to leading national universities for the 2023 academic year.

Each of the ten scholars will receive a financial grant from Serendib Flour Mills to support their higher education pursuits in fields such as medicine, law, engineering, management, arts, and commerce at universities including the University of Colombo, University of Moratuwa, University of Peradeniya, and the University of Kelaniya.

The selected students, hail from various estates including Namunukula Plantations PLC, Thalawakelle Tea Estates PLC, Balangoda Plantations PLC, Agarapathana Plantations PLC, Kelani Valley Plantations PLC, Kotagala Plantations PLC, Madulsima Plantations PLC, Elpitiya Plantations PLC, and Hatton Plantations PLC. These estates are located in the diverse regions of Galle, Rathnapura, Badulla, Kegalle, Hatton, and Nuwara Eliya, reflecting the program’s nationwide reach.

The scholarship program’s initiative aligns with Serendib Flour Mills commitment to support educational advancement and provide opportunities for deserving students to pursue higher education. The program’s impact extends beyond financial assistance, as it serves as a testament to the organization’s dedication to nurturing academic talent and fostering a culture of learning and achievement within the community.
