Anil Wijesiri, the former secretary of the State Ministry of Coastal Conservation and Lowland Development, presented an expected bail application before the Galkissa Magistrate’s Court yesterday (12).Sri Lanka Latest News
The bail application was submitted about the demolition of the Dehiwala Soul Beach Hotel by the Director General of Coastal Conservation.
He had submitted the bail application requesting to prevent his arrest for that incident.
Anil Wijesiri has been accused of preparing a false document stating that a piece of land belonging to the Department of Coastal Conservation and Coastal Resource Management in Dehiwala does not belong to that department.
It has been alleged that the document was forged as it was issued by its Director General when he was the Secretary of the State Ministry of Coastal Conservation and Lowland Development.
A part of the ‘Sole Beach’ hotel, which was located on the land in question, was demolished by the Department of Coastal Conservation on January 1 with the intervention of the police.
During the investigations conducted by the police regarding the incident, it was revealed that a fake document had been prepared for the land in question.
According to the police, former Ministry Secretary LL Anil Wijesiri has submitted the pending bail application requesting to prevent his arrest in connection with the incident.
However, after considering the bail request, the Mt. Magistrate’s Court has ordered that there is no obstacle for the police to arrest the suspect about the investigations being carried out regarding the incident.
The court has also ordered that Anil Wijesiri be banned from travelling abroad.
