Aims to support creative micro entrepreneurship

With the growing popularity of the weekend market at One Galle Face, The CAN Market has now expanded to launch a weekday market to be conducted twice a month at the World Trade Center, located in the heart of Colombo. This second venue aims to reach out to the working community at large.

This weekday market was officially launched at a recent ceremony, with the Mayor of Colombo Rosy Senanayake gracing the occasion as Chief Guest.

Commenting on SLT-MOBITEL’s involvement as the National ICT Solutions Provider, SLT General Manager of MSME Business Development, Sanjeewa Jayamaha said, “We are engaged in several initiatives within the partnership as enablers of entrepreneurship towards supporting the creation of market access, capacity building and technology diffusion in the micro and small enterprise sector. I take this opportunity to wish the CAN Market every success.”

Founder of the CAN Market initiative, Keshini Suraweera said, “Over the last two years, the CAN Market has successfully promoted and created new opportunities for local entrepreneurs engaged in micro businesses. It is a platform that has created not just B2C opportunities but in many instances opened B2B opportunities as well.”

“We are excited to welcome CAN Market to WTC Colombo, the largest business to business network under one roof, and provide an opportunity for our tenants and visitors to support creative entrepreneurs across the island,” stated Pravir Samarasinghe, Group CEO/ Director of Overseas Realty Ceylon PLC- the owner, manager, and developer of the World Trade Center, Colombo.

The CAN Market together with SLT-MOBITEL and WTC, invites all to come experience a wide array of sustainable, local products in one location and support entrepreneurs from across the island.

From Wednesday to Friday during the first and last week of every month, the CAN Market, WTC will be open from 9am to 6pm at the Lobby, opposite the Colombo Stock Exchange, and at the Ground Floor, near the main entrance.
