A delegation led by the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Mr. Kenji Okamura, met a delegation of Samagi Jana Balavegaya, including opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa, yesterday (31) at the opposition leader’s office in Colombo.
The leader of the opposition explained at length about the rising economic situation of the country and drew the delegation’s attention to the various sectors that have collapsed in the country. The opposition leader said that Sri Lanka is facing a difficult situation and asked the relevant delegation to assist Sri Lanka to get out of this situation.
The leader of the opposition urged the government to exert the required influence for proper financial management and recalled that the people of the country are living under unbearable pressure and hardship especially due to the increase in income tax.
The leader of the opposition, who explained the broken areas one by one, said that Sri Lanka needs time to recover from this situation.
The delegation, which recently arrived in Sri Lanka, is expected to discuss the recent trends in the country’s economic program, the opportunities to empower the economy in the future, as well as the methods to minimize the obstacles and delays.
