Pivithuru Hela Urumya Leader Stresses: No Betrayal of Intelligence Agencies for Political Gain Amidst Easter Attack Debate

Udaya Gammanpila, the leader of Pivithuru Hela Urumya, says that the intelligence agencies of Sri Lanka should not be betrayed for political needs. Sri Lanka Latest News

He mentioned this while joining the debate regarding the Easter attack held in Parliament. The leader of Pivithuru Hela Urumya, who further commented there, commented as follows.

There is no point in overthrowing governments by betraying war heroes

We must overthrow this oppressive government. There is no doubt about it. We challenged the government’s wrong decisions at a time when Pohottuwa got two-thirds of the power and the opposition’s eyes were silent because of that power. It was at the first cabinet meeting that arguments were made against the presentation of the twentieth constitutional amendment. We agree to overthrow the government. But if the government is going to be overthrown on the basis of the blood and tears of the victims of the innocent Easter attack, if this government is going to be overthrown by war heroes who have betrayed the intelligence agencies, if this government is going to be overthrown by creating conflicts between religious groups and sowing mistrust among the people, we do not agree with that.

The Easter attack is a very sensitive issue. Islamic terrorists have attacked Catholics while the Buddhists were in charge of security. An issue that involves three religions is a sensitive issue. It is an issue that we must manage very carefully. We saw throughout this debate whether our politicians have that caution.

Regarding the Easter attack, with the help of the US FBI and the Australian Federal Police, our police conducted investigations and filed charges against ninety-three people, and the cases are currently pending. We are filing charges within two years and four months of the Easter attack.

Charges are being filed on the 9/11 terrorist attack in America six years and five months after the attack. Also, five years and ten months after the investigation and filing of charges for the terrorist attack that took place in Paris, France on November 13, 2015. Compared to these countries that have more resources, technology and power than us, our police and officers have worked extremely efficiently.

So why is justice being delayed? Our Cardinal has been talking about the great mastermind for several years. Looking at the Catholic voter block, our politicians talk about a bigot without a scowl. When a palm fruit fell on a branch of a forest tree, a sleeping rabbit woke up scared and started running, thinking that the world would turn upside down.

The other animals in the forest also started running after this rabbit without a trace. The lion who was in the forest took these animals to the place where the incident took place, and stopped the lives of those animals so as not to frighten a fallen palm tree. The problem we have is that we still haven’t found a lion to stop the divilla that the politicians and the powerful people of our country are running in search of the mastermind of the Easter attack. We hope that such a lion will be born in the near future.

What are the consequences of the “Sonic Sonic” apocalypse?

And a name that has been read throughout this debate is “Sonic Sonic”. It was said throughout this debate that an intelligence officer dealt with terrorists under a false name. A thousand-year-old method of obtaining intelligence information is to enter the enemy camp as a friend and secretly obtain information from it. If the names of such intelligence officers are true, what will happen to the security of intelligence officers when they speak publicly in parliamentary debates like this? What will happen to the activities they risked their lives? What happens to national security?

An Indian intelligence officer joined a separatist and terrorist organization in a certain state of India. After a while, he becomes the leader of that separatist terrorist organization. Finally, the terrorist organization negotiates with the Indian government and lays down its arms. It happens because that intelligence officer pretended to be a terrorist.

Why India? We also have examples. LTTE political wing leader Tamil Selvam was killed in his office by our air force. Knowing the location of Tamil Toy’s office was not enough to carry out the attack. It should be known that he was in that office when the bomb was dropped. It was possible to do that because our intelligence officers operated as LTTE terrorists within that terrorist organization. Therefore, if the names and villages of these intelligence officers are famous, I request my dear fellow MPs to refrain from talking about what they did and said in the debate even from now on.

If an intelligence officer is suspected to be involved in a crime, and if the opposition is not satisfied with the police investigation, we can appoint a selection committee. Other countries have a standing parliamentary committee on intelligence. All those who participate in these sit on the committee after taking an oath of secrecy. Because the politicians of those countries had an understanding that the leakage of intelligence information means breaking the backbone of national security. When we see the irresponsible way in which the politicians of our country work, we should be surprised that this country is at this level.

Weakening intelligence means weakening national security. In 2001-2004, the government arrested intelligence officers and even revealed their real names. Therefore, the LTTE was able to kill even competent officers like Major Mutalif. Capable officers like Major Nilam left the country disillusioned with their country. Today, 15 years have passed since the end of LTTE terrorism. Major Nilam has not yet come to this country. Because the wound we caused in his mind is still not healed. And the 2015-2019 government came. The intelligence hunt started again. The names and villages were revealed. Arrested. A bunch of other intelligence officers left the country. The result was Saharan’s Easter Offensive. Therefore, I remind you that revelations, talks and talks about the intelligence agencies should be done more diligently.

I am a warning to all who talk about mastermind

I give a warning to all those who talk about mastermind. If you know of a mastermind, if you have information that someone is involved in this besides the ninety-three people who have been arrested, what you should do is not hold media shows, but immediately give that information to the police. According to sections 5 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, knowing about a terrorist act and not giving it to the police is an offence punishable with 7 years imprisonment with hard labour. Therefore, if anyone knows anything, please provide that information to the police. If the police do not take proper action, then we can join together and take action against the police.

Finally, it will be a great loss if we do not say a word about President Maithripala’s statement. He made a statement that he knows about the masterminds behind this attack. The police made a statement to the media. We asked him to be immediately arrested and interrogated. He has given a statement that according to the information we have received unofficially, Mr. Sirisena’s statement is false. None of these facts can be confirmed. It has been confirmed to be false so far. A former president made a joke of the country’s national security, made a joke of the people of this country and made a joke of the country’s police. At the right time, the magistrate decided to put the letter in a safe and lock the keys as it was a matter affecting national security. Otherwise, the country will be on fire by now. I suggest arresting people who are not making such irresponsible statements and creating problems.
