Why SLPP, UNP,JVP target Sajith as a common enemy

The president, for whom you all pasted posters saying, he destroyed the country and try to form a temporary government with him.

Ranasinghe Premadasa, the then Prime Minister, told this story and shouted so loudly that the roof of the Parliament could have fallen off during the November 1988 emergency law debate in the middle of the presidential election campaign.

By this time, the then president JR. Jayawardene and Sri Lanka Freedom Party leader and presidential candidate Mrs. Bandaranaike had met and discussed the dissolution of Parliament and establishment of an interim government.

Seven opposition parties supported this discussion, and JVP had initially agreed. Anura Bandaranaike was the mediator in the discussions between Mrs Bandaranayake and JR.

There was also an agreement to give the post of prime minister of the provisional government to the opposition. After forming the interim government , remove Premadasa from the Premiership , and in the midst of the Presidential election campaign displace Premadasa was the plan of the elite class that represent JR and Mrs Bs and opposition party of Phips sons Dinesh Gunawardene, and Senanayaka crown prince Rukman and Bandaranayake crown prince Anura Bandaranayake’s political agenda.

Within UNP those politicians who did not like to address Prmadasa ‘sir’ liked this interim government. As mentioned in JR’s biography millionaire businessman who did not spend a cent on Premadasa’s elections campaign spent millions on Mrs B’s election campaign liked the interim government. Initially JVP too agreed to an interim government but later after learning Mrs B’s SLFP would win retreated as strategic move.

All of these people wanted to destroy Premadasa. Nobody wanted Premadas to become President. Premadasa was everyone’s common foe. A high-class party was held in a residence in Rosmed Place on the day Premadasa was assassinated, according to A.J.Ranasinghe, a state minister at the time said in the Parliament. JR, who was in India at the time of Premadasa’s assassination, returned with the intention of making political decisions. Elite class thought the troublemaker was done.

At present that trouble makers son in the opposition leader. When Sajith became the opposition leader an alliance was formed to attack him. In that alliance the leader was Rajapakse’s crown prince Namal Rajapakse. Each time Sajith stood up to speak in the parliament Namals MPs insulted him calling ‘madman’.

Anura was the alliance’s leading attacker of Sajith. When Sajith spoke about the sanctions imposed on the army commander Shavender Silva Anura said opposition leaders head need to be examined. Before the aragalaya was began Sajith said to resolve the economic crisis hold an election and elect a new government. Anura kumara said should be off his head to ask for an election at this time. Such leaders of JVP Hadunnethi and Lal Kantha spoke underrating Sajith and praised Ranil and said to learn how to be an opposition leader from Ranil.

Mahind  and Namal went to Ranil’s home and invited him to come to Parliament to take the leadership of the alliance to attack Sajith. They knew toppling Sajit is not that easy. Ranil comes to the Parliament on Rajapakse family invitation. As Rajapakse, JVP too consider Ranil’s parliamentary entry as a victory once in the Parliament when Ranil break the SJB the JVP become strong. The contract given to Ranil by the Rajapaksa family and Podujana Peramuna is also the contract that will break the Samagi Jana Balawega when Sajitwa is gone. Rajapaksa’s UNP and JVP social media networks started a massive campaign to attack Sajith by saying that it is wrong to bring rice from home and eat it in Parliament, and it is wrong to get wet without an umbrella in the rain.

All of them were afraid when Gotabaya invited Sajith to take over the post of Prime Minister during the struggle. The Rajapaksa family is conspired round the clock to prevent Sajith from becoming the Prime Minister and make Ranil the Prime Minister. The JVP is happy about Ranil becoming the Prime Minister, thinking that when Ranil becomes the Prime Minister and breaks the SJB and forms a government and dismisses Sajith, the JVP can seize the power of the opposition.

Now UNP, Podujana Peramuna and JVP want to turn the 2029 presidential election into a battle between Ranil and Anura and throw Sajith out. Ranil’s and UNP’s common enemy today is not JVP but Sajith. JVP thinks that the biggest obstacle for them to take power is not Ranil but Sajith. The Rajapaksa family is waiting for Ranil to finish Sajit. The real story is that the Rajapaksa family, JVP, U.N.P. all waiting for Ranil to break the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.

Today, Sajith Premadasa is facing the same challenge that Ranasinghe Premadasa faced.

‘Anyone without Premadasa…’

This is the political theory of elite politics today. Even though JVP is not in the elite class, they do not like Premadsala because they have been able to fight in the non-elite political field, which JVP does not like.

These days U.N.P’s  elite political class work of to destroy the Samagi Jana Balavega. Sajith-Dallas joins with the G.L.s and the joint opposition is trying to defeat this underhanded conspiracy of the elite political class.

There are no elites in Dallas’ party. There is a talented group of young people who studied hard and became lawyers, doctors, professors and economists. There is a talented group of young people in the Samagi Jana Balawega too who do not want to fall for Ranil.

Sarath Fonseka, the army commander who won the war, is also there. This opposition alliance is the largest opposition alliance in Sri Lanka. There is no opposition alliance in the history of Sri Lanka where 15 to 20 of the strong ministers and MPs who left the government.

There were only 8 ministers from the government in the alliance formed by Maithripala and Ranil for the 2015 presidential election. In that way, this opposition alliance is the biggest opposition alliance in Sri Lanka. It is no big deal for Sajith to defeat the conspiracy of the elite political class with this opposition alliance.
