US will support Sri Lanka through IMF, if agreement can be reached

If an agreement can be reached, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie J. Chung stated that the US will provide assistance to the island nation through the IMF.

She stated that the US will redouble its efforts to assist Sri Lanka through ongoing efforts such as financing for SMEs, fertiliser and seeds for farmers, education exchange, and training to strengthen public financial management.

She made these remarks while speaking to the US-Sri Lanka Business Council in Colombo about how US and SL businesses can collaborate to ensure Sri Lanka returns to prosperity.

According to her, bilateral trade between the United States and Sri Lanka already employs over 180,000 people and contributes billions to the SL economy.
