“Transfer STF’s Romesh Liyanage until the investigation into the attack on News 1st journalists is completed,” the HR Commission advises the IGP.

The Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission has recommended to the Inspector General of Police that Senior Superintendent of Police Romesh Liyanage of the Special Task Force be transferred out of Colombo until the police investigations into the journalist attack are completed.

The Commission’s Chairman, retired Supreme Court Judge Rohini Marasinghe, stated in a press release that the Inspector General of Police has been notified for the immediate implementation of the relevant order.

The Special Investigation Unit of the Police is currently conducting investigations, and the Human Rights Commission insists that the investigations be independent and impartial.
