Trade unions will stop working against the government’s tax from today!

Unions of professionals have decided to engage in continuous trade union action from today (09) against the government’s tax policy.
The Union of Professionals includes 40 trade unions including doctors, port, electricity, water and university teachers.

Meanwhile, the members of the Union of Health Trade Unions ended the one-day strike which started at 6.30 am yesterday (08) at 6.30 am this morning.

They went on strike for several reasons, including cuts in wages and allowances.

Due to this strike, government hospital operations were also disrupted yesterday.

Last night, military personnel were also seen supporting the activities of the Kandy National Hospital.
