The Sri Lanka Bar Association says it is prepared to challenge the government’s new Terrorism Act in the Supreme Court.

The Sri Lanka Bar Association says that it is ready to challenge the new Terrorism Act to be brought by the government before the Supreme Court.

Its new chairman Mr. Kaushalya Navaratne has said that the Sri Lanka Bar Association has already appointed a committee consisting of senior lawyers to study the bill that has been gazetted.

The appointed committee should submit their report within a week, and if the relevant committee finds that there is any problem in the proposed new terrorism act, it will go to the Supreme Court against it, says the President of the Bar Association.

Many civil and political activists have already expressed their strong opposition to the government against the proposed new terrorism act.
