SriLankan to lease more planes & has none to its name

The Sri Lankan Government is attempting to lease several new aircraft to the SriLankan Airlines fleet.

Nimal Siripala De Silva, the country’s Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation said that the lease period for around six or seven aircraft will expire soon, and the Cabinet has approved to lease several new aircraft.

“We want to ensure that we have an uninterrupted service as we are hopeful of a massive inflow of tourists within the next three months. We want SriLankan Airlines to be a dedicated service”

However, he said that SriLankan Airlines does not own a single aircraft and currently maintains 24 leased aircraft.
