Rains aided in the generation of 50% of hydropower.

Rainfall has been heavy in reservoirs near hydroelectric plants.

The reservoirs affiliated with the Victoria, Randenigala, Rantabe, Castle Ree, and other power plants, according to Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) spokesperson Andrew Nawamuni, have experienced considerable rainfall in recent days.

He stated that the reservoirs’ water levels had reached 77% of their overall capacity.

According to the Ceylon Electricity Board, hydropower generation accounts for 50% of electricity added to the national system.
