China to Biyagama

Last week, revealing special information through the inside politics column, we said that Mrs. Sun Haiyan, who holds a high position in the Chinese government, is scheduled to come to Sri Lanka on the 21st for a special visit. As we revealed, the Chinese minister came to Sri Lanka and took steps to discuss with the main parties of the government as well as the opposition. However, there are several special facts behind this trip of the Chinese minister. Mrs. Haiyan came to Sri Lanka not just to visit, but to consult many reports sent from Colombo to Beijing regarding Sri Lankan politics.

These reports informed Beijing about what the outcome of the upcoming presidential election might be. Under the current situation, candidate who is ahead in the presidential election, what are the percentages that can be assumed that the winning candidates will get, where the popularity of the government, etc.  Many reports were received by Mrs. Haiyan before she came to Sri Lanka. The reports showed that the vote trend for SJB was 39 per cent, JVP 20 percent, Pohottuwa 9 percent, and UNP 5 percent across the country.

However, a confidential matter that took place during her visit that was maintained in a top-secret manner did not normally take place when a diplomatic teams visits another country. HaiYan had informed the Chinese ambassador to Sri Lanka that after she arrives in Sri Lanka, she should personally like to meet the voters of Sri Lanka to get a firsthand feeling about the results of the upcoming presidential election and to choose a suitable constituency and keep it as a secret. Accordingly, the Chinese ambassador had chosen the Gampaha district Biyagama constituency for Mrs. Haiyan to visit. Also, this Biyagama visit was done very secretly as one of her first visit during her journey to Sri Lanka. As planned, she chatted with the people and got their responses to a pre-prepared questionnaire to confirm whether the political reports received from Colombo to Beijing were true. After confirming that the relevant reports were 100% correct, Mrs. Haiyan made some changes her meeting schedules during the trip.

Anura’s Secret Visit to China

According to those results, she worked to make some changes in the discussion with the main opposition party, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya. Although it is the normal tradition to meet and discuss only the representatives of the two parties when the opposition political parties meet, Mrs. Haiyan decided to change it in the discussion with SJB and hold a face-to-face discussion with the opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa. Accordingly, after informing the Chinese ambassador about it, he discussed with the opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa and took steps to organize the meeting.

According to the schedule, Mrs. Haiyan first met the JVP delegation. We are ready to reveal another piece of information that no one knows about this time through the inside politics column. It is about JVP leader Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s very secret visit to China. Anurat and China kept this trip to China as a secret that no word about it ever came out from either side. At least no related photo was published in any media.

During this highly secret visit to China, Anura met the so-called Chinese vice Minister Mrs. Sun Haiyan. Therefore, there was some acquaintance between Anura and Haiyan. Accordingly, it was seen that the high representatives of both parties were present at the meeting held at the Pelawatta party headquarters.

The bud has blossomed

On a later occasion, Mrs. Haiyan and the group met with Pohottuwa representatives. Namal and Basil Rajapaksa joined the group and participated in the conversation. Mrs. Sun Haiyan made a somewhat surprised remark about the bud’s reawakening at the start of the meeting. It was a unique occasion. She claimed that following the “struggle,” the people quickly regained possession of the bud that had fallen to nothing. In response, Basil stated that a large part of that was due to the party’s grassroots network.

Surprises Sajith

Nonetheless, Ms. Haiyan and the SJB representatives had the important conversation. The opposition leader’s office served as the venue for this meeting, where representatives from both parties discussed issues for approximately an hour. Following that conversation, Sajith and Ms. Haiyan had their scheduled in-person conversation without the presence of any other participants. “I have something special that will surprise you,” Mrs. Haiyan said to Sajith at the start of the conversation. Sajith was taken aback and inquired about the nature of the poll, to which Mrs. Haiyan replied that it had been carried out in the Byagama area.

The two discussed a range of sensitive topics, including the security situation in South Asia, how China is assisting Sri Lanka, China’s foreign policy in Sri Lanka, and how to improve their friendship under a future government. The face-to-face meeting between the two was only scheduled for thirty minutes, but because the topic was so important, it seemed to go on for forty-five minutes.

Raisi’s visit to Sri Lanka

One of the most talked-about issues in this country last week was the fact that thousands of people had to spend hours stuck on the highway because of road closures due to security concerns posed by Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, who visited the island to inaugurate the Umaoya project before departing Sri Lanka. The media was aware of these facts, but they were unaware of another significant story surrounding the Iranian President’s visit to Sri Lanka. In all honesty, the government was facing a situation akin to a war when the Iranian President paid a visit to Sri Lanka.

During his trip to the United States of America last year, the Iranian president laid the groundwork for his upcoming visit to Sri Lanka. While travelling to attend the UN General Assembly, the president of Iran was extended an invitation by the president to stop by Sri Lanka. Later, Iran stated in a notification that the Iranian president is prepared to attend Umaoya’s opening. There had not been a problem because Iran was not receiving much attention in international politics at the time. However, because Iran and the US became involved in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict last month, the Iranian president was in the news worldwide.

Assuring the security of the Iranian President during his visit to Sri Lanka is undoubtedly a significant issue in such a setting. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs thus faced the most significant issue. They could not order the Iranian president to cancel his trip to Sri Lanka, so at first they assumed that Iran would cancel the visit. The next issue, however, was how to secure the Iranian president’s visit after Iran officially confirmed it.

It had become extremely difficult to provide security for the Iranian President via land route, particularly after the Iranian side had announced that the Iranian President would not be making any flights within Sri Lanka. The largest challenge was getting the Iranian President to Umaoya. Then, since they needed to travel a considerable distance by land, the Iranian security authorities inquired as to which airport is the closest to Uma Oya. And then Mattala Airport entered the picture. In light of this, the Iranian security services announced that the Iranian president would travel there by land to attend the Umaoya opening ceremony.

.

However, the government somehow wanted to bring the Iranian president to Colombo and discuss with him and put on a big show. The reason for this is that the Iranian President is greatly appreciated by the Muslim people of this country due to his support for Palestine based on the Israeli-Palestinian issue. Due to the fact that some problems have arisen between the government and the Muslim community, the government hoped to get the support of the Muslims to the government by organizing a meeting with the Iranian president in Colombo. For this reason, the authorities of this country had to close the highway and the remaining roads for a very long time in order to bring the Iranian President from Mattala back to Colombo and to take the Iranian President along the Katunayake Expressway after the meeting with the President in Colombo. As a result, commuters had to be stuck in one place on the main roads for a long time last Wednesday, which was a weekday. Also, the Iranian security authorities had to bring the plane carrying the Iranian president to Katunayake.

Several other special events happened while the Iranian President was in Sri Lanka. One of them was the release of a special announcement by the United States that there is a risk of imposing economic sanctions on countries that sign trade agreements with Iran. Apart from this, the Asia-Pacific Command, for which America has the main responsibility, informed that an emergency military exercise should be conducted in Trincomalee. Accordingly, the government had to give the necessary approval to the US troops to conduct a military exercise in Trincomalee while the Iranian president was in Sri Lanka.

Mahinda’s name is missing

We ought to address something here about Mahinda Rajapaksa, the former president. The man behind the Iran Umaoya project proposal was none other than Mahinda Rajapaksa, the former president of Sri Lanka. Mahinda went so far as to arrange for Ahmadinejad, the former president of Iran, to provide the required financial assistance. Nevertheless, the most noteworthy thing that happened was that Mahinda’s name and picture were absent from the invitation card that was made for Uma Oya’s opening ceremony. The names and pictures of Shashindra Rajapaksa, Dinesh, Ranil, Pavitra, Kanchana Wijesekara, and Iranian President Raisi were the only things featured instead.

As soon as we saw the invitation, we decided to publish it on our website. At the same time, it was seen as a hot news and the President immediately called Mahinda and told him to come to the opening ceremony of Uma Oya and if necessary, he would arrange to provide a helicopter for that. But Mahinda not only refused the President’s request, but also did not even participate in the opening ceremony of Umaoya.

However, it was seen that this event brought some favorable conditions for the opening of the ITC Ratnadipa Hotel, a huge Indian investment held in Colombo last Thursday. That is because those responsible have arranged to invite former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to the ceremony. The construction the Hotel started during the reign of Gotabaya. Former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa had done a lot of work for that. Accordingly, Gotabhaya had participated in this event, and it was a special event that the President made special thanks to Mr. Basil Rajapaksa in his speech.

Opposition deal makers

At present, it can be seen that the heat of the presidential election is slowly rising in the country. Thus, when the politics inside the country heats up, it is possible to see a way that deals politics is also raising its head simultaneously. Behind the scenes, discussions between different MPs with different parties and different political leaders have become a common thing these days. It is not that there are not a few members of the Samagi Jana Balawega, the main opposition party, who make deals like this. Throughout the past, we have been reporting on the deals made with the government by the so-called seniors within the Samagi Jana Balawega through the ‘Inside politics’ column.

We revealed there that these opposition members have been tempted to make a deal with the government based on various facts. We revealed that some members of the opposition had made a deal with the government to sneak their sons into the embassies of foreign countries, and other members had made a deal with the government to get bar licenses for their favourite millionaire businessmen. Others had engaged in deals with the government to gain influence in the committees and to obtain various privileges from the government. We also mentioned how others had made a deal with the government to break the huge alliance that is being formed within the opposition. We also pointed out that some of these deal-making politicians become people who get sold for crores of crores during election times.

That revelation was made because everyone should respect the right to vote of the innocent citizens of this country, not because we wanted to profit from anyone, instigate a crisis within the parties, or for any other reason. Voting for these politicians and placing them in the opposition was done by the people who wanted the opposition to play its role and not work out a deal with the ruling party. to defend the rights of the people and refuse to accept official privileges. not to obtain a government-issued bar licence.

At loggerheads

After we have revealed information about this deal politics of the opposition from time to time, we have heard that one of SJB senior and several politicians representing North-West and South are at loggerheads with us. But there is nothing we can do about it. We are telling our country the bitter truth of this politics. Two years ago, it was this corrupt deal politics that drove hundreds of thousands of people off the streets. As a result, we will soon be able to tell the nation the names and villages of the few individuals engaged in this deal politics. We are prepared to give the families access to the identities of the politicians who have accepted posts in the administration. The politicians who obtained bar licenses for their friends are about to come to light. We are prepared to make public the identities of the politicians who subtly attempted to destroy the opposition coalition in order to further the President’s goals.

GL was also Criticized

Prominent members of the government, such as G.L. Peiris and Nalaka Godaheva, were prepared to form an alliance with the opposition. These dealers, however, attacked G.L. and Godaheva by claiming that they were associated with the Rajapaksa. This opposition deal group also attacked GL when the president called him “sattambirala” in Kurunegala. Godaheva and GL released depressing remarks. As the people’s representative in the media, we should inform the nation about this deal politics and put an end to it, just as we did when we reported on the incidents that were related to it in the past.

Accordingly, the deal that some of these politicians made not only yesterday but also in the past with Beer Companies and cigarette companies has now reached us. We are ready to put all of them in front of the people with names at a very critical time.

Here is the latest deal

Also, this time we are ready to reveal to the country the information about another latest deal that happened recently through the ‘Inside politics’ column. A millionaire businessman from Kandy, who represents the biggest role in deal politics, had taken the initiative on the part of the government. For some time, this businessman is known as a political deal maker from behind the scenes. In the past, on many occasions, this politician was very secretly talking to SJB MPs and engaged in an operation to get them into the government. At one point, this deal businessman had stated that in the last budget, about 40 SJB MPs would join the government. But his mission failed.

A few weeks ago, this deal businessman had arranged to hold a special discussion in a housing complex built in Kollupitiya area. About 4 senior members of the Samagi Jana Balawega were invited, and this businessman had also invited a person who is renowned person in legal fraternity, which we never thought of, to come to the discussion. Many people were surprised that such a person, who is considered to be an expert in the field of law, was also participating in it, and during the investigation, information was revealed that this expert in the field of law had been in an operation to bring about an agreement between Ranil and Sajith.

Prime Minister ship to Ranil

This discussion, which was held at a dinner party, was marked as the last deal of the deal businessman due to a special proposal presented there. Here, this lunatic had started the discussion from the position that the president cannot win the next presidential election. Earlier, we had shown through this channel that Sajith is leading from the main opinion polls and the reports made by the intelligence services. Accordingly, this deal businessman had made a new proposal to the SJB seniors at this dinner to make Ranil the Prime Minister after Sajith became the President. If not, this businessman had informed the seniors of the JVP that the JVP will win and that they should convince that to SJB.

It should be mentioned here that we have all the names and villages of the SJB seniors who participated in this discussion, and we are ready to reveal all the information about them to the country at the time of an upcoming crucial election. Apart from this, many other matters were discussed between the two sides in this discussion. However, when the businessman asked who would make this proposal to Sajith, all SJB seniors said that they could not do it. Therefore, in the end, the proposal was handed over to the legal expert who was there to present it to Sajith. The deal businessman, who entrusted the operation to the legal expert, said that the operation should be started immediately and that he had planned to visit Singapore for the New Year holidays.

Ranil has less chance to win now. He can’t even beg and win. You can’t win by contesting alone. So the best thing is to put Ranil in SJB together. When Sajith becomes the President, they should tell Sajith the proposal that Ranil will make as the Prime Minister.’ Accordingly, the legal expert, who took over the operation, made a phone call to Sajith the other day and informed him that he wanted to meet on a special matter without giving any further information. But Sajith, who understood what was coming forth, informed him, ‘Let’s see.’ But Sajith had not arranged to give him a time to meet. Nevertheless, Sajith took steps to give an answer publicly during a ‘Sakwala’ program held in Hambantota. There, Sajith said that he will not engage in deal politics in any way that he will not work to make a deal with anyone who protects the Rajapaksas, and that he should not bring any proposals to him.

Ranjith spills it

However, nothing has come out in the last two weeks regarding the discussion regarding giving the post of Prime Minister to Ranil. It suddenly came out in a press conference attended by Sajaba General Secretary Mr. Ranjith Maddumabandara. He said that he has received a proposal from the government to give Sajith the post of President and Ranil the post of Prime Minister. Ranjith said there that he will not give any response. Accordingly, we think that Maddumabandara made this statement with the knowledge of Sajith. Because Sajith and Maddumabandara have a very long friendship. Many say that Madduma Bandara will be the Prime Minister under Sajith’s government. Therefore, it can be thought that Maddumabandara must have worked to inform Sajith about this proposal from the government. At the same time, in response, Sajith may have said that he will not make a deal with the government or the president. Despite the situation, we found out that the government is ready to move forward with the proposal of giving Ranil the post of Prime Minister.

The government has identified the new alliance with Sajabaya led by GL, Dilan and Godaheva as the biggest obstacle. Therefore, the government is continuously trying to disrupt this new alliance. The Ostars within Sajabaya tried to disrupt this alliance then and are still trying to disrupt this alliance today. But these ostarla and professor G.L. Looking at the educational qualifications of Peiris, the two are in two places like heaven and earth. GL It is a fact that everyone unquestionably admits that he is a pure character with great knowledge. He has never been accused of fraud. But these Ostars are currently making great efforts to break the alliance of GL, Dilan, Godaheva, Wasantha Yapa and somehow bring Ranil into the party.

2 political bombs

Two more political bombs exploded last week under this background. One of the bombshells was the allegation that the President has given money to a number of opposition MPs who have worked friendly with the government and made deals with their families and attended the President’s functions. It was said there that the president had given more than 32 crores from the decentralized fund to six opposition members. Generally, the decentralized funds should be received by the opposition members, but there is a specific method of providing it. There, the opposition members must first hand over the project reports to the district coordination committee, and then the related funds will be allocated. But the money is given through the district secretaries. But it was a special event that for the first time the president directly allocated a huge amount of money for the proposals presented by the elected members of the opposition.

How the money released

Accordingly, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has released an amount of Rupees Five Crore Two Lakhs (Rs. 50,200,000) to Samagi Janabalawega MP Dr. Harsha De Silva.

Also, Samagi Jana Balavegaya’s Gampaha district councilor Ajith Mannapperum has received four crore ninety-nine hundred eighty six thousand two hundred and fifty rupees (Rs. 49,986,250) and Samagi Jana Balavegaya’s Gampaha district councilor Kavinda Jayawardena has also given an amount of six million rupees (Rs. 69,000,000). Rs per tilak President Ranil Wickremesinghe has also released an amount of ten lakhs (Rs. 51,000,000).

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has directly released an amount of rupees eight million seven thousand three hundred seventy six and ninety four cents (Rs. 81,677,376.94) to Fauzi and an amount of ten crore rupees (Rs. 100,000,000) to Anuradhapura District Member of Parliament Ishaq Rahman.

The opposition is agitated

When the media reported that the President had allocated 32 crores from the decentralized fund to 6 members of the opposition, Pohottuwa and SJB were seriously disturbed. Pohottuwa was upset because the president had not allocated this much money to their MPs representing the government. The party was upset because Sajith and the party general secretary Maddumabandara were continuously receiving complaints from the party members in this regard. There they had pointed out that even though these MPs talk about transparency and cleanliness, they are making a deal with the government. Although many MPs were ready to ask questions in this regard at the SJB MP group meeting, due to the lengthy discussion regarding the Easter attack, it was seen that the topic was kept under wraps that day. But since the MPs were continuously complaining about it to Maddumabandara, Maddumabandara had made a statement to the media about it last week. Not only Maddumabandara but also Eran Wickramaratne said in a statement to the media that they had a problem since then about the allocation of money from the decentralized fund. It was reported by the media as follows.

Samagi Jan Balawega Party General Secretary Parliament Member Ranjith Madduma Bandara said yesterday (April 25) that it is wrong for only a few members of parliament to receive money under the pretense of decentralized proposals and what the Samagi Jan Balawega MPs will do to the parliamentarians will be discussed in the future.

Private members’ proposals and the SJB who submitted them. The Party General Secretary emphasized that they will look into the MPs and find out whether the SJBMPs have already received money.

He expressed these views when asked by the General Secretary of the SJB regarding President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s allocation of over 32 crore rupees for development activities to six Samagi Jana Balawega MPs through decentralized proposals.

General Secretary Madduma Bandara said that the president has selected only a few MPs and given money as bribes for their private MP proposals and he is investigating whether the MPs representing his party have already received those provisions.

He said that even though President Ranil Wickremesinghe has distorted the country, he will not allow the President to remove his party’s parliamentarians in politics.

He said that the government is trying to get the votes of Samagi Jana Balawega MPs by giving various gifts on the eve of the elections, which is unfair and decentralized allocations are to be given to every MP and not to the selected ones.

Thus, if the SJB MPs accept the money, the Samagi Jana Balavegaya as a party is already thinking about the steps to be taken in this regard, he added.

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balavegaya’s Colombo District Member of Parliament Eran Wickramaratne says that he does not agree with the method of giving decentralized money to parliament members’ projects.

During a questioning with the MP at the Parliament premises, he stated that since decentralized funds are people’s money, it is absolutely unacceptable to use them and appoint MPs using their names for various projects among the people.

He says that especially since then, he did not approve the system of giving decentralized money to MPs and that if the government led by the President gives that money, it should be given to all the MPs.

The MP said that a proper planning and transparency system must be implemented especially in the use of this money.

He further stated that although the presidents had previously given the relevant decentralized money to a large number of MPs, this time it shows a selective level.’

Bar licenses

In the meantime, the second political bomb exploded when several powerful members of the opposition in several provinces received complaints that they had conspired to grant liquor licenses to businessmen to open bars. During the discussions held by the religious leaders of the respective provinces with the relevant businessmen, the names of several opposition MPs who intervened in the granting of liquor licenses had come out, and later those religious leaders had arranged to give the relevant information to the leader of the opposition and two powerful politicians of the opposition. The religious leaders had informed the opposition leader that if a strict decision is not taken regarding these MPs in the future, all their names will be revealed to the country. Also, Mr. Dallas Alahapperuma also made a statement in Parliament last week and said that the names of the opposition MPs who intervened to grant the bar license should be disclosed. Accordingly, we would like to mention here that we are ready to disclose the names of these MPs to the country first through ‘Mawrata’. That is because we should put an end to this deal politics even at this moment.

Lunch bait

Apart from this, information about another opposition politician who tried to meet the President and the opposition leader face to face on Easter Sunday. This opposition politician had prepared a luncheon at his house in Sulaiman Terrace and invited Ranil, Sajith and two other relatives of MPs. Ranil accepted the invitation and came to the lunch, but Sajith did not join. Accordingly, many said that this luncheon was another part of the conspiracy to make Ranil the prime minister under Sajith’s presidency.

UNP May Day rally

Meanwhile, in the next few days, the Government has a plan to start a special campaign targeting May Day. Through this propaganda project, the government is going to say that three stalwarts of the UNP are going to participate in the May rally. Accordingly, we also engaged in a search on who these three SJB MPs are. There we came to know that Vadivel Suresh, who joined the government some time ago, Diana Gamage, a state minister in the government, and A.H.M. Fauzi, who worked with Ranil since the day he came to parliament after Mujibur Rahman left. It is said that the government has planned to spread the word that Fausi and the three are ready to enter the UNP platform.

Wijayadasa meets Ranil

In the past few weeks, the most controversial figure in the government has become none other than Justice Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksa. The reason for this is that Wijayadasa became the Acting Chairman of Sri Lankan Party while he was still a cabinet minister in the government, and later that position was censured by the court. Mr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa has already stated that he is ready to run for the presidential election as the presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party if a request is presented to him by the party.

However, a serious problem has arisen from the government’s side based on Wijayadasa’s issue. That is because Mr. Chandrika fraction’s  Nimal Siripala de Silva, who is the Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, and Wijayadas, who was elected as the Acting Chairman of the Party, are sitting in the same cabinet. Many people who know politics say that Nimal Siripala’s team has the support of the President and former President Chandrika.

However, after being appointed as the Acting Chairman, Wijayadasa requested a time to meet with the President. According to that request, a special face-to-face discussion between Wijayadasa and the President was held recently. There, the President said to Wijayadasa’s face, ‘This is a big problem. Now they are going to nip you from the bud. If that happens, they will remove you from the Parliament.’ With his usual smile, Wijayadasa said that he was ready to face it. Wijayadasa told the President that he started politics from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and for that reason he accepted the position of Acting President of the Party.

There cannot be two prospects

After that, the President presented another question to Wijayadasa.

Several people told me that two presidential candidates cannot be in the government. I don’t mind that. But the ministers say that it is a problem for them.” Wijayadasa smiled without giving any answer.

Despite the situation, the information we have says that a message had already been sent from the top of the government to remove Wijayadasa from the pot. But this column has heard that Pohottuwa is avoiding it. There are several reasons for that. One of them is that if disciplinary action is taken against Wijayadasa, Pohottuwa has received information that Chandrika’s team will seize power in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. Because Wijayadasa represents the team against Chandrika. On the other hand, Wijayadasa is a character born in Mahinda’s village. Therefore, it is not possible to think that Mahinda will take a decision against Wijayadasa. In addition, if disciplinary action is taken against Wijayadasa, Pohottuwa has to take disciplinary action against the rest of the team. But the fact that there is no time to take disciplinary action against the MPs and go to court to abolish the position of the MPs has also been a reason for not taking action against them.

Tuition for JVP

Before the New Year, the Sajith-Anura debate was a hot topic in the political arena; however, it is currently in a lukewarm place. In all honesty, it would be more accurate to state that this debate stung JVP. Regardless of what the JVP claims, Sunil Handunnetti’s falsehood forced the discussion between the Sajith and Anura Economic Committees instead of the SJB and JVP Economic Committees.

Sunil Handunnetty suggested that it should be a debate between Anura and Sajith when the SJB JVP Economic Committee was invited for a debate. Accordingly, at that very moment, Sajith made a statement from Mullaitivu and said that he was ready to debate with Anura. But still Anura has not said a word about it. After that, Tilvin Silva came to the press conference and made a statement that this debate will not take place. Harini Amarasuriya also jumped in the middle and joined the President and talked to the point where the debate was not going on. Accordingly, the debate is now in a place where it is not happening rather than happening.

Meanwhile, after Handunwenthi’s speech, the party had taken steps to organize a workshop for all representatives of the JVP party headquarters after the New Year holidays. Although holding workshops in a party is a normal phenomenon, this workshop was an extraordinary one based on the issues that were discussed there. In this workshop, the JVP and Malima were informed about the topics that should be discussed and which topics should not be discussed on the political stage. There, steps were taken to explain at length that everyone should speak from one point of view and the issues to be discussed in each topic. Also, the JVP had made arrangements to inform everyone about how to avoid issues that should not be discussed, what issues should be discussed in public, and what issues should not be discussed in public. After this workshop which lasted for several days, we will be able to see how all JVP members speak with one voice.

Nalinda has not come

Meanwhile, several rounds of discussions were held between the coordinators Nalinda Jayatissa and Nalin Bandara, who were appointed by both sides, regarding the Sajith-Anura debate during the Sinhala New Year. Here, Nalin Bandara had told Nalinda that he had to go to Ratnapura with his wife and children for the New Year, so that he should reserve dates for discussions after that. But taking it to his own advantage, Nalinda Jayatissa issued a statement saying that Sajabaya is trying to escape from the debate and will not fix a date for the debate. After that, issuing another announcement, Nalinda Jayatissa named 4 days in May and said that Anura is ready to debate on one of those 4 days. When the letter was released to the media, Sajith was joining the ‘Sakwala’ program in Hambantota district. Sajith immediately responded and said that he is ready to debate with Anura. Apart from that, Sajith mentioned that a debate should be held between the Sajaba Economic Committee and the Economic Council of Malima.

However, a few hours after Sajith made this statement, a strange kind of fake announcement with Sajith’s signature was released by some party on the social media. In that announcement, it was stated that Sajith is not able to debate on the four days named for the compass, and that Sajith is ready to hold the debate on June 31. But since June 31 is not in the calendar, it didn’t take long for everyone to realize that this fake announcement was issued to the media by some party to embarrass Sajith on purpose. Accordingly, Sahabayen immediately issued an announcement stating that this announcement is completely false and fabricated by some party.

After that, Nalin Bandara had sent a letter to Nalinda Jayatissa and informed them that without unilaterally issuing letters to the media, they would come to Parliament this parliamentary week and fix a date for both the debates. But Nalinda Jayatissa did not respond to it and did not attend the Parliament. Accordingly, it can be seen that the JVP is trying to avoid the debate. Also, it is none other than Mr. Ashu Marasinghe, who works as the President’s advisor, who has come to the support of the JVP. Ashu said in a press conference the other day the same thing that Tilvin said to the media regarding the debate.
