Parliamentary protest : Stolen weapon found

The Sri Lanka Navy has recovered a firearm stolen from an army soldier during an anti-government protest near Parliament on July 13th.

During the protest near the Polduwa Junction in Battaramulla, police said protesters assaulted an army soldier and stole a T-56 firearm and ammunition.

On Saturday, Sri Lanka Navy divers recovered an assault rifle and an empty magazine from beneath the Diyawant towa Bridge (23).

The firearm and empty magazine were turned over to Welikada Police, who are conducting additional investigations.
