On April 6th, at 3 p.m., SLFI will host a seminar titled “Protect Democracy.”

The Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act No. 15 of 1979 (PTA) is still the most draconian piece of legislation in our country’s legal system. Passed in July 1979 as a temporary provisions Act, as the title implies, it has lived and thrived for 44 long years since then, causing injustice, misery, and hardship to many. With an island-wide campaign, Justice for All advocated for the repeal of PTA and garnered massive public support.

A series of events are being planned to discuss and explore ways to challenge the ATA in the spirit of raising awareness and constructive engagement. You are cordially invited to a seminar on this topic on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 3 p.m. at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI)
