Nuland meets President Ranil! Chung and Sagala also present!

A discussion between President Ranil Wickramasinghe and United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Mrs. Victoria Nuland was held at the President’s Office this morning (01).

President Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the United States of America in the face of the most difficult situation the country was facing.

There, the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Mrs. Victoria Nuland stated that her government will continue to support Sri Lanka’s efforts to recover.

Sri Lanka’s discussions with the International Monetary Fund were also addressed here, and Ms. Victoria Nuland emphasized that the United States will continue to support the issues that have arisen to be resolved quickly.

The President explained at length about the implementation of the 13th Constitutional Amendment and the discussions with the country’s minor parties as well as the measures taken in relation to reconciliation.

The discussion also focused on the continuous efforts to combat the growing drug trafficking, for which Mrs. Victoria Nuland stated that the United States would provide full support.

Senior Advisor to the President on National Security and Chief of Staff to the President Sagala Ratnayake, Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake, Senior Economic Adviser to the President Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga, President’s Director of International Relations, Mr. Dinuk Colomboge,  and Mrs. Julie Chung, the United States of America Ambassador to Sri Lanka, participated in this discussion.
