Not with the  bud! All 13 councillors, including Galle’s chairman, have resigned!  Afraid of being beaten!

Galle Mayor Priyantha Sahabandu, who represented the Lanka Podujana Peramuna, and 07 municipal councilors have submitted nominations from the United People’s Party for this year’s Galle Municipal Council.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna municipal councilors M.S.A. Ratnapala, Susantha Karunaratne, Palitha Bamunukula, Sugath de Silva, Nihal Mahavitana, M. MP Eyas and MP Mala Mangalika have submitted their nominations from the United People’s Party.

13 MPs were elected from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna for the Galle Municipal Council in the last local government election. Among those MPs, Kaluma Seneviratne and Parakrama Dahanayake have not contested this year’s election, MP Chandanalal is contesting from the Samagi Jana Balavega and Sriani Abeygunasekara and Nadika are contesting from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

This year, 11 nomination papers were submitted by recognized political parties for the Galle Municipal Council.
