The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has started an investigation into the incident of a student being shot and injured in Thihagoda, Matara, and a team from the Matara District Office of the Human Rights Commission is scheduled to go to the place today (29).
The student who was injured by the bullet is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of the Karapitiya Hospital.
A hospital spokesperson said that the student in question was also referred for surgery last night.
A 15-year-old student was injured in a shooting yesterday (28) afternoon in Tihagoda area.
The police said that the student was injured when the officer’s firearm went off during a fight with a police officer.
In connection with this incident, the 57-year-old sub-inspector has been arrested and suspended.
