Judicial matters : A new directive for state officials issued by the President

The President’s Office has issued a circular outlining the procedure that state institutions and officials must follow when dealing with judicial matters.

According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), the directive is intended for ministry secretaries, provincial secretaries, state department heads, board of directors of state institutions and councils, and officials below the aforementioned ranks.

The PMD stated that state officials must not contact the Chief Justice, high-ranking justices, the Judicial Services Commission, or judicial officers, including justices of the High Court, District Courts, and magistrates, directly.

The statement went on to say that instead, state officials must only deal with the Attorney General in writing for matters pertaining to the judiciary.
