It is ‘power cuts’ not ‘protests’ that discourage tourists’ arrival – industry stake holders (VIDEO)

Despite government ministers’ claims that tourists are discouraged due to protests, the industry stakeholder says it is power cuts, not protests, that discourage tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka. People involved in the tourism industry in Mirissa say that due to the day and night power cuts, the tourists coming to this country are in great discomfort.

They point out that even though tourists are coming now, the industry has been severely damaged due to the power cut.

They are asking the authorities not to cut power, at least in tourist areas.

However, in recent days, several ministers have said that tourists will not come due to the protests in the country.
