It is not easy to get the approval of the financial fund! The Minister of State says the money spent on negotiations!

Minister of State for Finance Shehan Semasinghe says that getting the approval of the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund is not an easy task. The minister further says that he believes that he will be able to get approval for the extended credit facility of the International Monetary Fund by the end of this year.

The Minister of State spoke about the progress achieved through the discussions held yesterday (03) regarding debt restructuring. That today (04) while attending a press conference at the Ministry of Finance.

“Several reforms have been done. We need the approval of the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund. It is not an easy task. But by now we have come a long way for that. The required completions have been completed. Their board of directors is now ready to give the approval after we get a certificate of financial position. We are confident that we will be able to get approval by the end of this year,” said the state minister.
