An award-winning international journalist who was heavily interrogated by the President regarding the horrific repression against the protestershas had to face police harassment in the capital.

The police have twice stopped and searched the car in which Avani Dias, the South Asia reporter of Australia’s ABC news network, was traveling during an interview with President Ranil Wickremesinghe regarding the suppression of anti-government activists including Father Jeevantha Peiris, Wasantha Mudalige.

She had posted on social media along with videos that the police suspect that ‘someone is being hidden’ in that vehicle.
