Ideal Motors launched Sri Lanka’s first fully electric car called ‘Ideal Moksha’ in Colombo today (July 28, 2022).
Ideal Moksha, which was inspired by the Austin Mini Mok, which gained high popularity all over the world, is a car capable of creating a revolution in the Sri Lankan car market. Also, this can be introduced as a more sustainable and environmentally friendly solution to the current transportation problem.

The car is named ‘Moksha’ because it offers a more satisfying driving experience with the use of advanced technology and design concepts. Perfectly suited to the roads of Sri Lanka, this car stands out in terms of looks, space, comfort and connectivity.
Ideal Moksha, an electric car that is affordable for people of all walks of life, is best suited for domestic use in Sri Lanka. For a country like Sri Lanka with 1.5 million registered treewheelers and 4.5 million registered motorcycles, this is an economical as well as safe, smart transportation solution.

A fully automatic car, it delivers 100% torque from start without gear shifting. Ideal Moksha enables you to understand easily and enjoy a comfortable driving experience. The customer is also able to get rid of one of the biggest headaches in terms of transportation as there is no need for fuel.
Ideal Moksha, brought to you with all these combinations, will undoubtedly provide a new approach to Sri Lanka’s travel culture. Ideal Moksha can undoubtedly be introduced as a car that suits anyone ranging from the common man who dreams of a car to a business executive.

Ideal Moksha was created under the leadership of Mr. Nalin Welgama, Founder/Chairman, Ideal Group, a leading entrepreneur who plays a prominent role in sustainable transportation solutions, and a group of experts with an interest in climate change.
All manufacturing was done at Ideal’s green factory premises in Rathmalane (the factory is fully solar powered).

Mr Welgama expressing his views said, “With the introduction of Ideal Moksha to the market, today I was able to fulfill my dream of developing an electric car in Sri Lanka. An entry-level car, it also incorporates a number of innovative features related to the world’s best automotive technologies. Introducing something like this to my mother country is a milestone in my 35 years of automotive business experience. And this also marks the inauguration of the era of electric vehicles manufactured in Sri Lanka.”

Mr. Naleen Welgama, commented further on this and said, “Two more of our products have been launched today. One of them is the electric moped. At the same time, we have converted a scooter with an engine into an electric one. It has been introduced as ‘retrofit’. There are about 55 lakh houses in Sri Lanka. Majority of those houses usually use 100-200 units of electricity.

Mopeds and electric scooters and Moksha cars are especially suitable for that group. We have also made arrangements to introduce a solar system that can be installed in their homes so that they can be completely free from electricity bills. After determining the amount required by the customer, after installing the solar system on the roof of their house, they can reduce their electricity bill to zero. It is a great help in their daily life and maintenance of the vehicle.

This is just one of the beginnings of Ideal Motors Company’s journey forward. It is equipped with an electric engine instead of a combustion engine because it includes a full electric moped and a retrofit kit.

Ideal Moksha and other electric vehicles are only one part of the solution. Ideal Group is not only a company that works to reduce electricity costs but also has a strong interest in sustainable energy sources. Accordingly, Ideal Group presents to customers as Ideal Moksha, a completely green transportation solution produced using sustainable energy, which targets a community of 5.5 million domestic consumers who consume 100-200 kilowatts of electricity per month.

This package also includes a 4 kilowatt solar panel that can be installed on the roof, so the average consumer can reduce the consumption of electricity for their daily needs. Ideal Group is a company that offers solutions to problems through such organized, integrated thinking. Ideal Moksha is its first step. But it will undoubtedly lead to a definite future revolution.
