The President has informed that if expenses are incurred outside of the circular issued by the Secretary of the Treasury to control government expenses, the related responsible officers should bear the expenses personally. The Presidential Media Unit states this in a statement.
President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake had sent a letter today (15th) to all Ministry Secretaries, Provincial Chief Secretaries, Heads of Departments, District Secretaries and Heads of State Corporations and Statutory Boards.
It is further stated that the President has instructed that the heads of all public institutions should compulsorily fulfill the provisions of the circular issued by the Treasury Secretary entitled “Controlling Public Expenditure”.
