Fearing bank failure due to the country’s economic downturn, a woman withdrew Rs 15 lakhs and kept it under her pillow, only to be robbed.

On April 4th, a woman from the Veyangoda area filed a police complaint alleging that someone stole Rs 15 lakhs and ninety thousand from her bedroom pillow where money was kept.

She works for the health ministry in Veyangoda. According to police, the money is part of the proceeds she received from the sale of her land, which was deposited in a bank. She then decided to withdraw the money, fearing that the banks would collapse due to the economic problems country is facing , and kept it under her pillow as a safety measure.

She had stated that she sleeps on this pillow and that no one knows where the money is hidden, not even her husband.
When she entered the room to sleep on the day of the incident, she noticed the pillow was torn apart and discovered the money was missing, which she reported to the police.
