Expected results of import sanctions not achieved: Audit Department

The National Audit Department says that although the import of certain goods has been restricted in order to retain foreign exchange in the country within 2021, the expected results of the imposition of import sanctions have not been achieved due to the rapid increase in the number of import licenses.

Presenting its observations on the annual performance of the Import and Export Control Department in 2021, the National Audit Department stated that an increase of 47% in import license revenue has been noted in 2021 in comparison to 2018, which shows that imports are occurring without control.
