Dengue rising: Over 70,000 cases reported in 2022.

Sri Lanka is seeing a record rise in Dengue cases in the country, compared to 2021.

The National Dengue Control Unit said that so far in 2022, a total of 70,826 dengue cases were reported compared to 29,650 dengue cases reported during the same period in 2021.

It added that in recent months Sri Lanka experienced a spike of 41,176 dengue cases, and a majority of these cases were reported from Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, and Kandy Districts.

The National Dengue Control Unit said that it declared 55 Dengue High Risk Zones in the country, while patient numbers are rising within 28 MOH zones.
