Coal supplier withdraws due to payment guarantee risk

Coal supplier withdrew and Kanchana Wijesekara, Minister of Power and Energy, stated that the Cabinet cancelled the August 25th coal tender (22).

“The selected supplier has conveyed the inability to perform the tender due to worries about the impact on legal cases filed and payment guarantee risk,” Minister Wijesekara said in a tweet.

Furthermore, Lanka Coal Company will issue a new International Open Competitive Tender to any appropriate provider who can supply coal on a long-term credit basis.

“To meet immediate needs, the remaining 19 Cargos from last year’s tender will be advanced,” Minister tweeted.
