Residents say that there was a land crack in Buttala, Unawatuna area yesterday (12).
They indicate that it happened between 8.53 am and 8.55 am.

“All of a sudden, it was gone…it was gone. that is all”
This incident was reported in the background of two minor earthquakes reported last Friday in several areas around Buttala.
But the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau stated that there was no minor earthquake reported yesterday.
Professor Udeni Bandara Amarasinghe, head of the Department of Geology at the University of Peradeniya, says that people should not have any unwarranted fear about this.
