After 23 years, the assassins of Rajiv Gandhi released!

Indian Supreme court Today (Nov. 11), released the suspects who were serving life sentence for assassination of Rajive Gandhi former prime minister of India. Supreme Court has ordered the release of the 6 defendants including Nalini Sriharan, R.P. Ravichandran who is serving a life sentence. `

Earlier, the court had adjourned the hearing of a petition filed by Nalini Sriharan for early release.

The Tamil Nadu government had earlier convicted Rajiv Gandhi assassination case convicts Sriharan and R.P. Ravichandran has expressed his wish to be released, saying that it is incumbent on the Governor to issue instructions for their release.

In two separate affidavits, the state government informed the Supreme Court that in its Cabinet meeting held on September 9, 2018, it had considered the pleas of seven convicts in the case and decided to recommend to the Governor to commute their life sentences in accordance with the Constitution.
