A UN representative arrives in Sri Lanka. The first person he meets is Sajith!

A meeting between Mr. David McLachlan-Karr, Asia Pacific Regional Director of the United Nations Development Coordination Office and Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the Leader of the Opposition, took place at the office of the Leader of the Opposition in Colombo.

Many special issues were discussed there. The relevant discussion was held with special focus on the launch of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2027, which will guide the activities of the United Nations agencies in Sri Lanka.

Attention was also paid to several problems faced by Sri Lanka and due to the current economic situation in Sri Lanka, food insecurity and the need for UN intervention to protect marginalized groups was also emphasized. The importance of formal and positive engagement with the United Nations was also taken into consideration. Mr. David McLachlan-Karr is currently in Sri Lanka for an official visit. Mrs. Hana Singer, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Organization in Sri Lanka, was also present at the event.
