According to a political source, the government will appoint 30 state ministers before forming the next Cabinet.

It will take place at the request of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), the main party supporting President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The SLPP MPs who served as state ministers in the previous government recently met with the president to discuss the appointment of new state ministers.

The SLPP has requested that 40 of them be appointed. However, the president is only interested in appointing 30 people.

According to an informed source, state ministers will be appointed either next week or during the first week of September.

According to an SLPP MP present at the meeting, his party discussed the appointment of heads of district development coordinating committees.
