Jaffna’s St. John’s and Chundikuli Girls’ College work with Yara Technologies.

Implements Talkative Parents EdTech Platform to accelerate digitization drive with the inclusion of Cross Channel Communication and online school fee payments

Yara Technologies (Pvt) Ltd announced its partnerships with St. John’s College (SJC) and Chundikuli Girls’ College (CGC), Jaffna to implement the “Talkative Parents” (TP) EdTech platform across both the schools.

The platform will help further accelerate both School’s digitization drive with the inclusion of Cross Channel Communication (enabling mobile app, text message and email-based communication) and online school fee payments via one unified platform. The schools can now connect with all key stakeholders, from administrators, teachers and parents in a seamless and controlled manner.

The program is sponsored on behalf of the schools by the alumni of SJC and CGC and SJC87 Initiative, an educational charity formed by SJC alumnus in memory of their founder Mr. Sooriyakumar Sivanathan.

A key value proposition of Talkative Parents is that communication is completely controlled by the school given the hierarchy-based structure. The platform is a multifaceted system that enables:

Unlimited digital notices, calendar events and attachments such as student reports, assignments, timetables and newsletters via the mobile app

Messaging to multiple groups/ subgroups of parents (i.e. school, grade, class wise or to an individual)
A two-way private messaging feature allowing parents to connect with authorised personnel directly
Calendar displaying school-related events which can be synced with the mobile phone
Multi-language messaging
Online school fee payments via an Internet Payment Gateway (IPG) in collaboration with Seylan Bank PLC
Easy Payment Plans (EPPs) for parents using selected credit cards to pay the school fees via the IPG

“Education is a collaborative partnership involving the school, parents, and the community. Our goal is to work together to provide the best possible environment for the students under our care. Our partnership with Yara Technologies to implement Talkative Parents is an important milestone in our college history as we look to strengthen and facilitate communication and collaboration between parents and the school community,” said Mrs. D. Thuseetharan, Principal, CGC.

“On behalf of St. John’s College, I welcome this novel EdTech platform by Yara Technologies, a pioneering effort which will provide a space for effective communication between the parents and the teachers. We are confident that this would enhance the communication between the teachers and parents, which certainly would empower the students towards their academic excellence and whole wellbeing,” said Mr V S B Thuseetharan, Principal, SJC.

Speaking about their partnerships, Tiasha Silva, Director of Operations at Yara Technologies said, “We are delighted with the opportunity to collaborate with both these leading private schools in Sri Lanka. We believe our partnerships would be highly synergistic given their reputation of being forward thinking.”
