Yakkalamulla child dies in Karapitya hospital today

A four-year-old boy who was shot in point blank range has died in Karapitiya hospital in the early hours of today (30) informed hospital sources.

A four-year-old boy named Anut Satsara of Ranepura Heva has died.

Later, the injured boy was admitted to Karapitiya Hospital and died while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.

A 33-year-old man named Vedikkarage Saman Kumara, a resident of Uragasmanhandiya area, died of gunshot wounds on the same day.

The deceased is a suspect in a murder case in Karandania area and after getting bail from the court, while he was grinding cinnamon in a house in Yakkalamulla Magedara area, two people on a motorcycle shot him with a T.56 handgun and fled.

The hospital spokesman said the child was shot in the leg and stomach.

According to the instructions of Galle Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Sudath Masinghe, a team of officers including the Station Commander of Yakkalamulla Police are conducting searches to arrest the suspects involved in this shooting. – Lankadeepa
