With whose approval did the CB governor declare the country bankrupt? UNP President Vajira inquired this twice? Nandalal has not yet responded!

The social media revealed that Vajira Abeywardena, the United National Party Chairman, had earlier questioned that it should be revealed immediately with whose permission Sri Lanka was declared bankrupt. On April 29, as the UNP chairman, he questioned whether the cabinet gave approval to act considering the country bankrupt, whether the finance ministry and the finance minister gave approval for it, and whether the parliament gave the approval to study the issues and tell the country the facts.

Sri Lanka is in a very sad situation in front of the world and the media has said that the Central Bank, which answers everything, has not given answers to Mr. Vajira Abeywardena’s statement that the country has reached that situation because of non-payment of debts.

Mr. Vajira Abeywardena has once again questioned the statement made by Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe as the Governor of the Central Bank that he will not pay the debt in this manner.

He had said that those who declared Sri Lanka bankrupt have done an illegal act, and although the parliament has given up financial control and handed it over to others, declaring the country bankrupt is a powerless process as the law belongs to the parliament. The MP has said that he said that the current President was questioned about it in the Parliament when he was a Member of Parliament. Member of Parliament Vajira Abeywardena said that neither the Ministry of Finance nor the Central Bank has the power to bankrupt the country.

He said that the country’s bankruptcy was declared by the other group without the knowledge of the representatives of the Parliament and he has said that the blame has been put on the Parliament. Therefore, MP Vajira Abeywardena had said that it is the responsibility of everyone in the Parliament to demand a proper investigation into the bankruptcy of the country.
