Warrants for Wimal!!

A complaint filed by the Kurunduwatta Police at the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court was called today (13) against MP Wimal Weerawansa and 07 people for engaging in a protest in a manner that caused distress to the public when Prince Al Hussain came to Sri Lanka.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Mr. Prasanna Alwis issued a warrant to arrest and present the MP to the court regarding the failure of MP Wimal Weerawansa to appear before the court.

The police had informed the court that they engaged in the protest while the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner was on a visit to the country.

Wimal Weerawansa, Jayantha Samaraweera, Weerakumara Dissanayake, Roger Seneviratne, Mohammad Mussammil, Piyasiri Wijenayake have been named as 7 suspects and Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis issued warrants considering the absence of MP Wimal Weerawansa from appearing before the court. Ordered to reconvene on June 19.
